Saturday, May 2

Lacey and I went to Armada for the afternoon to give the girls a break from each other and to replenish the collection of Roald Dahl books for Lacey to enjoy. We found a great History of World comic strip book, too, and enjoyed it over Frappucino and Brownie Cheesecake at Starbucks before finishing up our shopping. We were all surprised that the Ottoman Empire is not even mentioned in the book! But it has sparked some online searches to find out more on a few topics, and has introduced some interesting discussion topics as well (like Lacey's observation that there sure are a lot of wars and fights in history).

And my photography study continues twisting knobs on my camera until things look right. These boxes of dishwasher detergent tablets made us laugh. Notice one has 30% more and one has 35% more, but the box is so much bigger. The photo was taken on the floor of our entryway, with almost no light (the sun was going down and there's no direct light for that area of the apartment) so I put my camera to the test.

On full auto, with the flash

Full auto, but with flash turned off

Brightened up, but now blurry

Ahh, nearly perfect
