Most Fridays, noontime prayer

Out our window, at the back of the neighboring building. There's a doorway that people enter and exit for prayers, but on Fridays at noon time there's often overflow outside.

They have rolled carpets to bring outside for extra room, and sometimes still there is no room so people use cardboard. One day an older man used the park bench. Anything to be off the ground. I wish I knew more about the traditions and practices and how each person decides what level of prayers is appropriate for himself. There are no women coming to this location. Do they just pray at home? Or have a separate "back of the building" location? And why are these men coming here instead of any number of mosques that are not far away?
